The casual hiker is rewarded for a short climb to the ledges on the back side of Mt. Van Hovenberg with this magnificent view across South Meadow. Klondike Brook will be in the foreground and Algonquin (5114 ft., second only to Marcy in the Adirondacks) is seen prominently to the south along with (I think) Wright in front, Colden on the left, and Avalanche in between. Facing east from the same ledges takes in Cascade and Porter.
