Old Trees in the Deer Lick Preserve, Zoar Valley

As quoted in the Sierra Club Guide to the Ancient Forests of the Northeast,by Bruce Kershner and Robert T. Leverett, one indicator of great age in trees may be "knobby, knotty, burly, and misshapen trunks". This is an example seen on the White trail of the Nature Conservancy's Deer Lick Preserve in the Zoar Valley.
